Fusion Pharma CIALIS (Tadalafil) is a PDE5 inhibitor used widely to treat erectile dysfunction. Tadalafil is sold under the name Cialis in US and other Western countries. It is also manufactured and sold by various Indian generic drug makers under the names Tadacip, Tadact and T-Fil. Tadalafil is availably usually in almond-shaped, film-coated yellow tablets in 2.5mg, 5mg, 10mg and 20mg.
It is used to treat erectile dysfunction as well as symptoms of pulmonary arterial hypertension and benign prostatic hyperplasia. It works primarily by relaxing muscles found in the walls of blood vessels and increasing blood flow to particular areas of the body.
Precautions. Before you take it, tell your doctor if you are allergic to it, or if you have any other allergies. Do not take Tadalafil, if you are also using a nitrate drug for chest pain or heart problems including nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate, and isosorbide mononitrate.Be cautious of taking Cialis with a nitrate medicine, or street drugs containing nitrates, such as amyl nitrate, butyl nitrate, or nitrite as it can cause a sudden and serious decrease in blood pressure. Do not eat or drink grapefruit juice while taking Cialis as it can adversely affect the absorption of the medicine in the body.
You may experience headaches, indigestion, acid reflux, back and muscle aches, flushing, and stuffy or runny nose on Cialis. Any back pain or muscle aches can occur 12 to 24 hours after taking the drug, and the symptom usually disappears after 48 hours. If an erection is painful or lasts longer than 4 hours, you must get emergency medical help as this may cause damage to the penis.
Suggested Dose and Administration
Cialis is taken orally in tablet form with, or without food. If you are taking Cialis to treat erectile dysfunction, then there are two different ways to take it, either daily, or on as needed basis.
Tadalafil on as needed basis for ED
Initial Dose: 10mg orally 1x a day, as needed prior to sexual activity.
Maintenance Dose: 5-20mg orally 1x a day, as needed prior to sexual acitivity (and based on individual efficacy and tolerability).
Tadalafil on daily basis for ED
Initial Dose: 2.5mg orally 1x a day at approximately the same time, without regard to timing of sexual activity.
Maintenance Dose: 2.5 – 5mg orally 1x a day (based on individual efficacy and tolerability).
