Arimidex (Anastrozole)
1 MG – 30 ML

What is Arimidex?
Genetix Pharmaceuticals Arimidex is the trade name for an Anastrozole. Bodybuilders call it ADEX or just DEX. It was approved in the United States for use in 1995 and it is a non-steroidal aromatase inhibiting drug and is approved for treatment of breast cancer after surgery.

Since breast cancer can be heightened by the increase in estrogen, Arimidex is actually used to inhibit the synthesis of estrogen. When a man uses steroid compounds certain compounds they are going to aromatize into estrogen the main culprits are going to be like testosterone or d-bol. These have some of the higher rates of conversion to estrogen.

Arimidex Side Effects
Side-effects for Arimidex are pretty low. In a breast cancer study there was some bone weakness associated with Arimidex use but keep in mind it was used for years on a daily basis so for a bodybuilder that uses a proper dose during a cycle runs it right does not go overboard, then you should not have too many issues. If estrogen is not inhibited by using an aromatase inhibitor then high estrogen side effects are probably going to occur. Some people are blessed and they do not experience it but most will. The most well-known side effect is gynecomastia, or just gyno. That is where you are going to start to see breasts form on you which you do not want to have happen. So a man could notice a lump forming within the breasts or under the nipple area and if not treated quickly or allowed to go too far out of hand, there is always the possibility of needing surgery to remove it.

The lesser-known but more serious side effects are caused by water retention, which can give you a really bloated or full look. Extra water weight to your body or face is commonly known as moon-face. You can ruin your physique that you’ve worked so hard to build while on cycle and carrying all that extra water weight is going to strain your body’s lipids across the board. It is going to increase your blood pressure which is definitely not something you want. Extra heart strain and you are also going to have a lot of lethargy, loss of energy and it can affect your libido as well. Another thing that gets overlooked is the mental issue. It can cause you to be depressed but also just keep in mind too if you are too aggressive when you are inhibiting estrogen by using compounds that are harsher than Arimidex, this can cause your estrogen to drop too low and as a result you can expect to experience erectile dysfunction, loss of energy, depression and low libido.

There is a fine line in between there that you do not want to cross either way. With regards to Arimidex versus Nolvadex, the main advantage in using Arimidex over a SERM like Nolvadex is that Arimidex blocks the aromatized enzyme therefore it prevents the production of estrogen in the first place. In comparison Nolvadex will hinder the estrogen receptors from receiving the estrogen rather than stopping production at the source. So you will still have estrogen floating around in your body when you use a SERM like Nolvadex. In regards to Arimidex versus letrozole – the side effects are not as harsh when you compare it to an AI like Letrozole which has a whole list of side effects, the most common being erectile dysfunction.

Although estrogen is known as a female hormone, men still need it in their body just like women still need testosterone in their body. For men estrogen balances them hormonally and it helps them gain muscle and strength, and that is why Letrozole –which is a really harsh aromatase inhibitor that kills almost all estrogen– is not always the best to achieve hormonal balance on your cycle. On the other hand this is where Arimidex shines because it is more gentle. It will not crush your estrogen levels so you can be more balanced.

Letrozole is about the only realistic alternative out there aside from Aromasin. Aromasin and Arimidex are going to be your two mains. Aromasin is stronger – it is a suicidal inhibitor where Arimidex is not. Arimidex is more of a suppressor and Aromasin just kills your estrogen off.

Suggested Dose and Administration
Arimidex is best used for people who are estrogen-sensitive because Aromasin can actually be too strong for them. It can crush their estrogen levels. The only way to know what is best for you is through blood work. Pre-med and post cycle blood work can show how your body is responding to compounds and dosages. Aromatase inhibitors is everything that you are taking that’s the only way to really know but if you’re not estrogen prone then you probably want to consider Arimidex just because Aromasin could beat you. But you have to find out for yourself.

The dosing is going to be different from person to person. Blood work is going to determine what is right for you. Most people start with 0.5 milligrams every other day. That is where most people start and assess from there. Normally it is a little bit easier to dial your Arimidex dose in then your Aromasin because Aromasin is a lot stronger, and most people using Arimidex are not really gynecomastia prone, so 25 just works. You just have to make sure it is not crushing your estrogen and it is working to do what it is supposed to do.
